ISO 9001:2000 is the foundation of a solid quality program. AS9100 uses the ISO 9001 standard as its basis, and Nadcap Chemical Processing also requires an ISO-compliant quality management system. The principles of management commitment, document control, purchasing control, corrective action systems and continuous improvement are applicable to any business.

However, the metal finishing business has its own unique issues.
